Why does a rescue cost more than $49?
+
Because most real outages aren’t one button. They’re plugin + theme + PHP + hosting + cache + DNS (or a broken checkout). Cheap tickets usually budget minutes. We budget investigation, backups, safe changes, and a clear quote before major work.
Isn’t a free diagnosis better?
+
Free “diagnostics” are often sales screens. We charge $175 so the work is real: find what’s broken, what changed, and what it takes to fix — then credit that toward the repair if you move forward.
When should I use a cheap fix instead?
+
When you can describe the task in one sentence and the site is otherwise healthy — change this text, install this plugin, adjust this form. When visitors can’t reach the site, checkout fails, or nobody knows what broke, that’s rescue territory.
Is the diagnostic free?
+
No. The $175 rescue diagnostic is paid upfront. It is credited in full toward the repair if you proceed with us. It is not refundable — you are paying for real investigation and a written fix quote, not a sales pitch. Full rules:
Refunds & Payment.
Why don't you offer free quotes?
+
Because guessing costs you more when the guess is wrong. A paid diagnostic means I actually investigate before quoting — you get accuracy, not a number I pulled from thin air.
How fast can you fix my site?
+
Depends on severity. Diagnostic first, then a realistic timeline in writing. We are not the fastest fix on the internet — we are the accurate one.
Are you available 24/7?
+
Automated monitoring can run 24/7 on the Care + Monitoring tier. Human rescue work is business hours for new clients. Active care clients get priority. We are not an on-call 24/7 dispatch line.
Do Care clients get priority?
+
Yes. Active Care plan clients jump ahead of new leads browsing the website.
Do I have to host with you?
+
Rescue can start on the hosting you have today, although limited access may make work best-effort or prevent us from completing some tasks. Eligible WordPress and WooCommerce Care Plans normally run in our managed hosting environment. Managed hosting is included with no separate standard hosting charge. We do not host or migrate email. If you have an unusual requirement that prevents migration, contact us before enrolling — we review exceptions individually and cannot promise external hosting will be accepted.
What if my site is on shared hosting?
+
To provide reliable care, Rescue 404 needs enough control to troubleshoot, restore, secure, and optimize. Traditional shared and low-resource hosting often lacks SSH, staging, resource control, and reliable restore paths. We may triage from WordPress alone; that is not a full fix. A lasting recovery and Care enrollment normally require migrating into our managed hosting environment.
Why does Care include managed hosting?
+
Managed hosting is included so Rescue 404 can take responsibility for more of the technical stack — backups, staging, monitoring, recovery, and hosting-level troubleshooting. Eligible Care Plans normally host with us. Unusual situations are reviewed individually; we cannot promise every external environment will be accepted.
Do I get a Care discount if I already pay for hosting?
+
No separate discount is needed — managed hosting is included with eligible Care Plans with no separate standard hosting charge (website hosting only; we do not host or migrate email). After a standard migration is complete and verified, you can discontinue your previous hosting account if you do not need it for email or other sites. Complex migrations may be reviewed and quoted separately.
What plugins are included?
+
Premium plugins we hold lifetime licenses for, when we manage the stack. Other premium plugins are client-owned or quoted separately.
Is WooCommerce included in care plans?
+
Light checkout smoke-testing only on Care Manage for simple existing stores. Full store management — checkout, payments, feeds — plus bundled website Care requires Commerce Systems Management (from $499/mo).
Do you guarantee more sales?
+
No. Never. Care and commerce plans keep your site or store technically sound — we do not guarantee revenue, conversions, or rankings.
What's the difference between Care and Commerce?
+
Care alone maintains WordPress business sites (updates, backups, monitoring). Commerce Systems Management is for live stores: it includes website Care plus payment flows, marketplace feeds, integrations, and technical store operations — one retainer, not a separate Care fee on top.
How do you handle my passwords and logins?
+
We prefer a dedicated Rescue 404 admin (and host user when needed) — not your personal owner account — so changes stay attributable and you can revoke us without rotating your own password. If the site is locked and you cannot create that account first, we create our own admin after repair. Never paste passwords into the intake form, email, or chat. Use a free self-destructing link from
Password Pusher (recommended: view limits and auto-delete) or
One-Time Secret — paste that https URL in the optional secure share field on intake, or send it in reply to our message. When the work wraps, you revoke temporary access. Ongoing access only applies if you are on a care plan that requires it.
Are you remote? What are your hours?
+
Remote-only and async. Human replies and rescue work run Monday–Friday during Eastern Time business hours. Same-day priority is for active care clients when possible — new inquiries typically get a first reply in 1–2 business days. No phone support. No Zoom screenshares.
Do you offer phone or Zoom support?
+
No. We do not provide phone support, Zoom meetings, screenshares, or live walkthroughs. Rescue is written intake + secure access + hands-on work in your hosting/WordPress stack, with findings delivered in writing. Calls burn diagnostic time, push insecure credential sharing, and delay real fixes. Use the intake form — not a calendar link.
